I discovered the world of dog and cat grooming by chance. I was working as an after-school counselor while attending college in hopes of becoming a teacher. One summer I helped my friend’s mother as a bather for her dog and cat grooming shop, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Soon enough, I was styling and learning techniques to make the grooming experience fun and comfortable for my furry clients. I knew this was my passion, and eight years later I opened my professional dog and cat grooming salon.

I have such compassion for the animals that I groom, for this job is not just grooming; I take pride in being able to recognize each animal’s pet peeves (no pun intended!) and to work with them and to train them to relax and enjoy their spa day! :o)

Established in 1985.

Golden Cockatoo was in the Bird Business when it was just beginning 29 years ago. In 1995, the original owners had an auction and effectively went out of business.

One of the current owners, Richard (Rick) H, went to the auction, bought two birds (one was sick) a bunch of spoiled food, a bunch of used display cages and toys that were left over, and then opened up in the same location three days later. Everyone thought we would fail.

Since our early days on Federal Highway, we have expanded into our own 5,000 square foot Hurrican-shuttered, secured building in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on Powerline Road just south of Hillsboro Blvd., directly across the road from Quiet Waters Park with easy access to the Sawgrass Expressway, Florida Turnpike, and I-95.

Come in and play with some of our hand-fed tame baby parrots; they are out on our suspended play stands so you can easily touch, talk to and play with them. Call us for directions.
